d'Vine Wine Bar & Bistro - Margaret River

Margaret River Hotel
139 Bussell Highway
Margaret River, 6285

Yes, this was our last choice restaurant as all of those we wanted to sample were fully booked. The voyager, the Flute, the Clairuit, Leuuwin Estate and finally out of hunger and desperation we decided to stop of at Margaret river during our Saturday sojourns and yet another good surprise.

Don't let its old building and bar-like looking exterior fool you. Inside exudes a rustic charm reminiscence of one of those 70s sitcom. Yes like "CHEERS" , if you don't know this movie then you are probably too young to drive and too young to enjoy the food.

Well, all i can say is if you happen to visit Margaret river and feel a little hungry this place is reasonable. What is surprising is that its dishes were beautifully cooked and you won't believe it but the head CHEF was a WOMEN ! Not that i am an "MCP" but and asian head chef and in Margaret river ? Well my conclusion is that she must be the wife of the other head chef doing the pizza.

What we had for lunch

For starters we had Pumpkin soup - The soup was in my opinion just right, not too creamy and not too watery. It had the nice aroma of pumpkin and yet smooth on the touch. It was beautifully salted and yes every drop was sucked up !

The main -Saly pepper squid and Fish and Chips

All i can say it delicious ! The fish was soft and flaky on the inside and crispy on the outside. While the squid was tasty and beautiful.

Cannot fault the bistro, After all its a poor man's place for a rich man's lunch. Meaning good food at reasonable price.

Conclusion - 6.5 /10 on my scale. Though i am a hard man to please. This is as good as it gets for the bang on your buck .
