Leaders and his commanders

Recently got to catch up with some old acquaintances and leader and learnt some great insights from them

I soon came to a realization that more often than not sometimes we leaders often ask for obedience and loyalty to be an attribute of a good follower. Being a leader myself, i have never enforce this ruling because for one simple fact, respect from my followers is not my right, it has to be earned from my life, the way i treat others, the way i show love just as christ show love to me, the way i carry myself in my daily walk with honesty and integrity. So often times we demand the people lead to show good spirit but we often overlook our own inadequacies. Leaders attract the type of followers they are. One example is the life of David and Saul. David attracted mighty people because he himself was fearless and courageous.

Title never makes anyone more superior than the others. Men gives title to men in position. But the true anointing comes from our lord. A title of a leader does not make one into a leader, God decides if we are leaders of one, ten, hundreds or a thousand. If all leaders love God, yet we are all so different in our anointing, maybe the key truth is that every level we climb in authority requires a different type of life, responsibility, character, abilities and attributes that God first require of us as a leader. From the word of spiderman : WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBLITY.

May our life reflect our love for our Lord.

My friend's blog

Here is a blog from my friend Jasmine : Its a good read

I chanced upon this article by Wayne Cordeirio. It was very helpful and good reminder for me as a leader. Am I an accountable leader? Am I open and honest and eager to seek advice with my leader and mentor? This article addresses what is accountability. In Hope church, we valued accountability very highly. It's a biblical value and it's not for just members but especially to leader especially leaders who pastor churches.

So if you are a leader in some way or another, or if you are a follower of Christ, I pray this article will bring truth in your mind and heart. Be blessed as you practice. :)

"At a recent meeting, the elders of a church were discussing what to do with a pastor of a local congregation. I remember him as a rigid leader who several times sent me letters of disapproval for how we were using the arts in worship.

Hidden immorality in his life had surfaced. Somehow he had been rationalizing an affair over several years with a woman in his church. The elders came to the final conclusion and asked him to leave, and I wondered quietly to myself, "If he were able to lead himself before leading others, his future would be different today."

We're good at evaluating others, but unless we can evaluate ourselves by the same standard, we will live inconsistently.

Thomas Watson, former chairman of IBM, said: "The most convincing proof that a person is able to lead others will be expressed by what he does day to day to lead himself."

We tend to judge others by their actions, but we evaluate ourselves by our intentions. In other words, if we can rationalize our intentions as not necessarily vicious our evil, then we excuse ourselves and feel innocent, regardless of other violations that may have occurred.

The higher we rise in the authority structure, the more we need to seek accountability. We forget that we are fallible and susceptible to misjudgments, selfishness, and insecurity, and since the "eye cannot see the eye," we need to increase this priority.

Accountability is not something that will be developed automatically. I'm sorry but there is no delivery service for this one. You have to go after it. In Proverbs 1:23, "Wisdom" warns us: "Turn to my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you." True accountability is something we must "turn to."

Many might think that the extent of accountability is "being willing to explain your actions." That might be partially true, but most of the time, we do something and hope we never get asked "why!" We would rather take the risk.

Accountability begins much sooner than that.

Your willingness to get advice and ask for input prior to your action is the best indicator of how accountable you are.

It begins with getting advice from others, especially those above you in the line of authority. Leadership is a trust, not a right, and not being accountable early enough causes most of the errors of leaders. The earlier the accountability, the better chances you have at being a great leader. Accountability is an act of humility, not a lack of confidence. It is a sign of those who chase after wisdom.

How accountable are you as a leader?

What an interesting camp

If there is any doubt that God often answers prayer. Then i am sure, this Thai camp would erase all the doubt. Been praying to God for a direction and for some answers to certain issues.

Its no coincidence that one of the camp topic spoke to me and gave me some guidance as to what i should do. I know the key is always to make sure that our life with God is always close, and to treasure the relationship with God above all else.

In ministry wise, its becoming clearer and clearer what path i should take so that i can grow closer to God. They say in the bible that we are many parts but one body and all of us are called differently. Some are the head, some are the eyes, some are the brains, each is different and unique in their function but all have to work together,to make all things happen.

An eye cannot become the mouth, neither can a brain be the hands. God has not created us this way. The key to finding true joy is when one finds the ministry that you have been created for. That is why when we choose our occupation to please our parents or to follow the normal trend, we will not be as happy as when you are doing something you truly love.

I believe i know what i am called to do, but only time will tell, but if it is something i really enjoy, i know it will be a joy not a burden

Amen !

Hong Kong Tai Wo Restaurant

This is one restaurant we stumbled across along Nathan Road. The stuff in Hong Kong generally quite expensive so have been praying God can bring me to a nice restaurant, the one thing i would like to do in Hong Kong. So while traveling yesterday, i felt promoted in my heart to walk down a street along nathan road. And LO AND BEHOLD, I came across this super nice restaurant, which won many culinary award for its dishes, I think they got the best restaurant tag for many years. All their dishes is so unique. If you go to Hong Kong, try this resturant, our 3 dishes cost us only $50 AUD

We ordered some interesting dishes like lobster, spare rib in Strawberry and Champagne sauce and the Sang Choi Bao. Really delicious will be going there tonight

Disneyland Hong Kong

If you ever plan to visit Disneyland in Hong Kong, I would suggest you wait for another 3-4 more years. After the the trip Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland still would take a number of years to have enough attractions to rival Japan or even Paris. At the moment there is only 4 sections you can visit and i must say it took us less than a day to visit the whole place.

The rides were few, not a place for thrill seeker and the only roller coaster they have is the space mountain. The shows were ok and some interesting especially the stitch interactive show. This is one i would recommend. Besides that the park would probably need a few more years to develop newer attractions.

Here in Bangkok

Currently in Bangkok - Khon Kaen for the Thai Hope Camp. The weather here is really hot and humid. Have to go from one summer to another. Really wish that it is winter here. The stay in Royal Princess is not too bad, the breakfast here is nicer than Sofitel, and the rates are cheaper here.

Past one and half day, we have a guest speaker from Victory Family Church in Singapore preaching about missions. Was wondering if i went to the wrong camp, hahah....suppose to be loyal church, but seems like mission church camp.

Ps PN have not preached yet, i think he is sick from what i heard, maybe that is why we have Ps Rick Seaward coming to preach.

Planning to go to Hong Kong to tonight... Disneyland here we come....

Life still goes on...

Real Madrid can only dream of Ronaldo

Its interesting that Real Madrid and their fans keep thinking they can sign Ronaldo, when their club is basically financially bankrupt with huge debts that maybe needs years to clear. I do not know how the club is run but unfortunately unlike other smaller clubs, they would not be able to tempt Ronaldo to move or Manchester to sell.

In fact, all the time that Manchester sells to Madrid is when they want to sell off their players, example Beckham and Ruud. In fact, if Manchester United wants their players, they do not sell them at any price. we have as big or even bigger supporter base then Madrid and have more financial capacity, we have as rich a history as theirs and currently have the most exciting squad ever.

In my assessment they reason why we sold Ruud and Beckahm to Madrid is that they are the only club who will buy players at inflated price. So it makes financial sense when we want to pawn off players that no longer fit into our system. Maybe that is why the are the only top club in the world that is always making huge losses, even though they have such high turnover.

So until the day comes when Ronaldo no longer fits into our system, Madrid can only dream.

Political Views

What is a perfect government ? I've been thinking if really the best form of government is a democratic one ? There are basically a number of different form of government in the world. Is democratic really the best form of government ? Take for instance, Australia where i am currently residing in. Every 3 years, there is an election and if the opposition wins, there are new rules and regulation, for example when the Liberal won in the previous election they spend millions of dollars bringing in workchoice agreement, now with labour winning, they plan to scrap it. I wonder if the next election if liberal were to win again, would the workchoice agreement be reinstated.

It just seems that even in a democratic form of government, changes often occur and changes will often if not unsettle the economy, the infrastructure and also the climate of the country. Though it may seem that democracy may have its flaw, I am not proposing in anyway, that dictatorship government like that of President Mugabe in Nigeria, the communist government system in Russia or China is any better. I am also not proposing that there is a all in one best form of government.

Actually i don't believe that there are any perfect government system in the world, its actually the people running the government that makes the country great. Take for instance Singapore, a small tiny country, with the land area not bigger than Perth Australia Metro region.

Some may say that the Government is very high handed on opposition and is very authoritarian I wont disagree on that, what is important that though sometimes the government may make decisions which may not be popular. They always put the people and the country first in every decision.

That is what makes a good government.... Character
